Vividly illustrated with rare photographs and documents the objective of this edition is to highlight the critical aspect of Netaji's life and achievement and to inspire generations to dedicate their efforts to rebuild an India which Netaji dreamt of. The depth of the content is enriched immensely by unique contributions made by Netaji's daughter Prof. Anita B. Pfaff, by Prof. Krishna Bose, Chairperson of the Netaji Research Bureau and by Prof. Sugata Bose, Gardiner Professor of History at Havard University al globally respected authorities on Netaji's extraordinary life and work.

The reason that has whet my desire and interest to write this book - The idealism and the spirit of sacrifice of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose remains the high point of our struggle for independence. Netaji once wrote, "………. no suffering, no sacrifice is ever futile. It is through suffering and sacrifice alone that a cause can flourish and prosper, and in every age and clime, the eternal law prevails, 'the blood of the martyr is the seed of the church'."

While recalling his amazing courage as the Supreme Commander of the Indian National Army, we also recall his constructive approach to nation building. That vision of Netaji has immense relevance for the 21st century and for our fight against the forces of communalism, terrorism and extremism. The national movement forged the unity of our diverse land. It brought people of diverse faiths, diverse creeds, diverse languages together. Deeply spiritual and secular, Netaji understood that India's great contribution to humankind is the midst of diversity.

This is the spirit of self-sacrifice and courage that inspired me to take upon myself this onerous task. NETAJI FOR YOU is my humble attempt at presenting a concise yet comprehensive cross section of some of Netaji's stirring writings, speeches, letters which have inspired millions of Indians and especially to the young generation who will transform Netaji's dream into reality, and will build the India Netaji envisioned. In this fast age it may not be possible for many to read the extensive volumes of works running into thousands of page, that's why I tried to competently edit a concise selection of Netaji's speeches, letters and other writings. The contents have been arranged chronologically according to the various phases of his extraordinary life and work.
