Celebration of World Teachers' Day

World Teachers' Day, is celebrated annually on October 5 since 1994. According to UNESCO, World Teachers' Day represents a significant token of the awareness, understanding and appreciation displayed for the vital contribution that teachers make to education and development. This year it was such an enlightening experience for me to celebrate World Teachers' Day, at Nazrul Mancha, dedicating a day to the teachers. Shri. Kesharinath Tripathi, Hon'ble Governor of West Bengal was the Guest-in-Chief. Mr. APJMJ Sheik Dawood, grand-nephew of Dr. Kalam, Mr. Prasenjit Chatterjee the eminent actor had also graced this function. This programme was aimed to felicitate the teachers, who create future of India. I have paid respect to those 11 teachers, whose contribution and commitment in the society is priceless.

On the World Teachers' Day I have presented my latest Book "Pupils' President - APJ Abdul Kalam", to 1000 students . This was my tribute to the Teacher of Teachers late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, because he loved students, and had immense faith as they would be the torch bearers of the nation. . Kalam was a man who always craved to rise high and excelled through all odds. To inspire the future of this nation, I have gifted this book to them in whom Kalam may be reborn. I believe this book will ignite, and motivate the students. "Pupils' President - APJ Abdul Kalam", is an edited compilation of biography, articles, speeches, quotes of Kalam.

In this programme, a book also has been launched from Aajkaal Publishers, named "Kabyabithika''. This is a collection of poems by Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi, Hon'ble Governor of West Bengal, translated in Bengali. Being the Chairman of Aajkaal Publishers it is a matter of pride for me that Governor had entrusted us with this book. It is another accomplishment for Aajkaal Publishers'.

This programme was also graced by the spectacular and magnificent dance performances by the students from various units of Techno India Group Public School. Our students from our various engineering colleges showed us the live portrait painting of Dr. Kalam along with rhythmic melody .

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam used to say that, "If a country is to be corruption free and become a nation of beautiful minds, I strongly feel there are three key societal members who can make a difference. They are the father, the mother, and the teacher". As an educationist I just tried to connect a bridge between the students and the teachers on this particular day by organizing this programme.
