Nehru Memorial Techno Global Hospital turns One

The flickering flames were blown off, and there was a loud cheer followed by a birthday song. Our hospital in Barrackpore – the Nehru Memorial Techno Global Hospital celebrated its first birthday on February 2nd. On the way I was recalling the time and toil that have gone behind this venture and I felt contented that it is serving as a successful multi-speciality hospital in a town that needed one such health centre over a long time. I regularly take updates and it is immense happiness that free camps are conducted bi-weekly and monthly for the people who can’t afford to spend a lot of money on expensive tests. My parents taught me to be philanthropic and that was the basic idea behind building this hospital in a small town.

Amongst my family, friends and colleagues, the celebration commenced with cutting the birthday cake of our one year old hospital. Veteran actor Prosenjit Chatterjee, who is like family to me, travelled all the way to be with us; that truly added to the grandeur.

One of my very good confidantes and eminent sports journalist Gautam Bhattacharya gave me a proposal which will be a pleasure for our team to carry out – free beds in the Orthopaedic department for talented players who are struggling to make it big at the district level. Often, many talented players who hail from financially deprived families can’t afford good health benefits, and that’s a sad situation.

The cultural programme put up by the staff members was a treat to the eyes. This was such a kind of day that makes you feel inner happiness.
